Hey also heard you on the Mischke show and would like to buy a copy of "Jesus is on the Mainline" song. I've checked itunes and all the other versions don't quite stack up!!

Jonathan Hawkins

January 12, 2012

I heard the song (and discovered the musician) recently , on the Mischke show and have watched a live recording on youtube. The title is listed as, "Mainline - "...Jesus is on the mainline. Tell 'em what you want..." However, on the "Times Is Hard" CD, the song by that title is not the same track. What is the actual title of the song featuring the aforementioned chorus? Is this song available for download and/or purchase. It's a fantastic song! I'd enjoy a copy of that track.

I know that you needed a change but just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the Tuesday nights at Holihans. I actually drove all the way up from Mankato on several occasions to see you play with other of my favorite players-- the results were always magical. Hopefully when you take a break for a while maybe you can start up again and make some more magic even if it's only the first Tuesday of the month or something. Anyway thanks for all the great music you've made and continue to make.

Hey Paul,

Just a quick note to let you know how much fun we had playing with y'all up in St. Cloud. Your slide work on Risin River is beautiful and haunting to say the least. Gordy and I are definitely gonna put you on the new cd. We've recorded alot of tunes already but they all need some work and we're plannin on having 3 band cuts on the project.
See ya when I get back in the spring sometime.

October 15, 2010

Hey Paul,

Just noticed on the sign outside of the new bar in town, (Red Wing), that you will be playing the Blue Duck. I'm really looking forward to it. Your type of music has been sorely missing in this area. Thanks for making the trip!

I am declaring myself fit and ready to begin basic training on the slide guitar. I can provide both physical and mental test documentation. I'm pretty sure I have that around here. . . Maybe. . . . Someplace. . . . I know I have cash, anyway. Maybe that's all the paperwork your institution requires. . .

I see a fairly heavy workload there in your near future, but let me know if you can squeeze me in, as Delbert once said. Otherwise I'll just see you on a stage somewhere.

Paul We talked about a possible show at MN Discovery Center, I talked to Beth Pierce our Event Coordinator she was very excited about the possibilites!! She said she is working on a musical event right now for September 26th. She has 3 local bands lined up. Her contact number is 800-372-6437. If this fall does not work we (you, Beth and me if I can help can work together to try for next season)

And yes it was a great show last night!! I only planed to sit through a couple of songs and then get some rest; well I'll rest up tonight. Thanks Larry

August 5, 2010

Paul, not sure you remeber me or not; you may be more familiar with my brother Tom than me. My sister Carol is married to Bobby Mayasich and growing up my best friend was Mark Mejasich...Yes I'm from Eveleth!

Anyway, let me cut to the chase. I was wondering if I could get in touch with you regard to playing at a benefit I'm planning for my grandson who unfortuneately was born with some pretty serious health issues related to his heart. Issues that will require future surgeries, etc., thus the purpose of the benefit.

I have not settled on a venue yet, but I'm leaning toward the Blaine VFW off of 65 and 109th. It offers those coming from the range an easier passage in and out of town as well as many hotels, etc. My hope is to have the benefit during the middle part of September(the 18th), but if needed will move out to whatever works out best to draw the most people in.

I figure all I can do is ask and if you say no or the dates just won't work that's cool, I just needed to ask.

Also, just to let you know, to maximize the fun factor I'm attempting to get another band...namely the Paul Metsa band (99% sure he will do it). Not sure if that affects your decision, but if it does I will understand. Just trying to think of ways to draw the most people and having two excellent bands would probably push the event over the top.

Thanks for listening and I hope to here from you soon (one way or the other). My home phone is 763-566-7519; Work - 612-204-6350.

Thanks for taking the time to read this Paul! And if you can't do anything else but pray for the little guy I'll take that too!!

Hey Paul,
My friends and I once again loved your show at Shaws last night. We bought 5 of your cd's to enjoy at home. Unfortunately, when I got home I found my copy of "The Dough Bros" was just an empty jewel box. Bummer. Would it be possible to get the disk in the mail? If not, we'll probablly be at Shaws the next time you're there. If you could save me a copy it would be great. Thanks for the music. It does a soul good.

Hey Paul,

Last tuesday night was a blast. Thank you. I feel very blessed to have such great musicians play every tuesday. Karen and I were talking and we think you and Steve should play just the two of you. Because we love Paul with horns.

Also I was wondering if you are still giving lessons and if you are how much. My daughter is interested she is 15 years old and she sings. She has an acoustic guitar. If you are interested or know of someone who can give lessons I would be gratefull.

Paul,
I never thought I would ever say anyone would be as good as Eric Clapton until I was introduced to Warren Haynes. Now after a friend gave me your Solitary Soul album and after seeing your acoustic set on Sunday at the legion, I never thought I would see someone as good as Warren Haynes, and someone who could play slide as good as Sonny Landrith until I saw you. Your song the Path has really touched me, and your style is a breath of fresh air. I am a guitar player from Chicago, who now lives in White Bear, and I am so happy that I have gotten the chance to see you play. I wish you could do a DVD of your music, I would watch it all the time if you did. I hope to meet you soon, and get the chance to talk to you. You are truly amazing. I hope to make your show tonight at hollihans.

Paul,
So nice of you to come to mom's funeral. Loved having you there with us to pay tribute to a lovely lady and a great mom. Thanks too for handing me a copy of your newest CD. LOVE IT! We've been listening to it non-stop to soak it all in. Sure like what you did with The Path. Could easily imagine hearing that one on the radio. Beautiful chorus and nice, tight harmonies. It's just a beautiful song, Paul...and a nice tribute to you folks. It was fun explaining your place out there in the woods to Landis and my kids. I remember the sign (Mayasich Mayem)well! What a special place that was...fertile ground for a family to develop a tight bond and a love for music to help pass the time. I could comment on all of the tunes, but I'll wrap it up by saying I also liked what you did with Will The Circle Be Unbroken. Excellent guitar arrangement...so unique and soulful. Of course, it hit home with my mom's passing. It poured like honey...it was good!

I wish you well with this solo effort Paul. It'll do well. Let me know if I can help in any way. I met a guy from Nashville while on a recent trip to our place out in Martha's Vineyard. He's a producer, song-writer, very connected in the Nashville music scene. He's written hits for the Dixie Chicks, Keith Urban, etc His best hit was Some Days You Gotta Dance (Dixie Chicks)...and it's also on James Taylor's recent Covers CD. Landis and I sang and played music with him into the night...became friends. Happy to connect you with him if you'd like. But I know you have plenty of friends in Nashville as well.

Anyway, take care. Keep doing what you do! Great to see you.

Dear Paul and Nancy; thanks so much for bringing a wonderful close to my Birthday. It was just a quirk that we decided to come into WBL for a drink by the lake to end our day out together, and Im glad we stopped in. Sometimes its just "Karma". I loved your Acoustic performance which is just what the Dr.ordered for a girl having the blues about getting another year older. I listened to your CD on the way home, and once again when I sat on my front porch after I got home sipping an evening "tottie" and truley enjoying your voice. You are truly blessed my friend to be able to do what you do,and not only bring joy to all of us, but how lucky to have the talent to sit with your guitar and make such a beautiful sound for all Gods creatures to enjoy. I am on facebook along with my friends and Hubby too. I want them all to here you wonderful voice and guitar. Please, make arrangement Nan to come to Hastings,Look up Wendy at the legion in Hastings,RJ's, the Point, whatever,Please come so we can here more!!!! God Bless you in your Musical Journey...

Hay Paul and Nancy, long time no see! I met you guys at Bevs the last few times you were there, both awesome shows. I missed you the last few times you were in Duluth, it was a very busy summer, sorry. We moved to Maple which is only a few miles from Nebagamon,so we'll be there this weekend, can't wait, it seems llike you put so much soul and energy into your music. You truely are the best guitairist I've ever seen. Working on the house has become a lot more enjoyable because I bought a jukebox and you now hold the top three spots on it. My little girls even play you all the time, with bottle up and go being their favorite song!Anyway , we will definately see you Saturday night! Safe travels on the way, can't wait to hear that slide humming!

HiPaul,
My name is Ron, I'm from Belgium, and I'm a writer for Rootstime, an internet-site specialized in Roots and blues -(www.rootstime.be). Before I worked for the site, I ordered your debut in 2002 and it remains one of my favorite records. I did not know you released a few others in the meantime. Now, I would love to do a "special" on your four cd's (including the one with Andy.) So if you would like that, you could send promo copies of the last three cd's to us.(I'll mail you the adress) As I already have the first, that one is not necessary. If you have a look at our site, the specials are called "Blikvangers" which means something like "Eyecatchers". We only do about 4 of those each year,
so it means a lot of exposure.
Please consider this request, because I would love to let Europe know of your talent as one of the best slide players on the planet.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey Paul,

I am planning to hear you at Floyd's on Feb.6 (my birthday) and I was wondering if it would be at all possible for you to consider having my boyfriend (Steve Blexrud) sit in on one with you? Hopefully, you remember him from one of the gigs at Mayslacks perhaps? I totally understand if you would rather not, but it sure would make it a birthday to remember (my two favorite guitar players playing together) Not sure if you remember me either - I have been a fan since Blues Alley days and have several or your CDs. I'll have to buy more at Floyd's. Let me know and thanks for considering,

I would like to know which cd of yours contains a ballad about a man in love with a married woman, that I saw your duo play at Floyd's in Victoria last fall. Please let me know if it is available! It's a wonderful song....
Thank you.

Paul - I have enjoyed your music for many years, listening often to your cuts from the Blue Chamber CD I bought from you at the Holiday Inn in Bismarck ND. I was the one who was always there alone - with a book. I came to hear good music and I was never disappointed. Thanks! I'm very pleased to see that you've continued making music when so many gave up. Congratulations! I hope to hear you play again someday soon.
